Several specialist outpatient services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be the first to relocate to an incoming medical facility in Kai Tak next year, authorities have revealed.

In a paper submitted to the Wong Tai Sin District Council on Tuesday, the Hospital Authority said a majority of clinical services at the King's Park site will relocate to the New Acute Hospital in phases as the Kai Tak facility is set to begin operations in mid-2026.

The authority said two of the five buildings at the new hospital – the specialist outpatient clinic block and the oncology block – have undergone fire safety inspections.

Building works at the three remaining towers are expected to wrap up at the end of next year at the earliest.

Officials said Queen Elizabeth Hospital will move specialist outpatient services to two buildings that will be operational first, before bringing other clinical services such as the accident and emergency department to the Kai Tak facility.

"Queen Elizabeth Hospital will first arrange for the relocation of specialist outpatient services in internal medicine, surgery, neurosurgery and family medicine from the current ambulatory care centre to the fifth to eighth floors of the specialist outpatient clinic block," it said.

Current patients visiting the specialist outpatient clinical oncology clinic at Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be moved to the new facility for follow-up consultations, the authority added.

In addition, the allied health clinic at Queen Elizabeth Hospital will relocate patients to the New Acute Hospital for services "in a progressive manner".

The facility is set to offer in total 2,400 beds, 37 operating theatres, a neuroscience centre, an oncology centre, specialist outpatient clinics with a capacity of over 1.4 million annual attendances, and a community health centre.
