Five barristers have been appointed as counsels for the independent committee looking into the cause of the deadly Wang Fuk Court fire.

According to a statement released on the committee's website on Tuesday, they include the former chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association Victor Dawes, Lee Shu-wun, Jason Yu, Brian Lee, and Jonathan Fung.

The statement also said that law firm Lo & Lo, which had participated in investigations regarding excessive lead content in drinking water in 2015 and the vessel collision near Lamma Island in 2012, was appointed as solicitors for the committee.

The independent committee in relation to the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po was established by the government in December.

Headed by Judge David Lok, the committee will submit a report in nine months' time, and raise suggestions accordingly.
