A man was injured on Monday night following a suspected gas explosion in a flat in To Kwa Wan.

Police said the man, in his 40s, suffered burns and was conscious when taken to hospital. He’s believed to have been thrown out of the house by the impact of the blast.

Officers said they received multiple reports just after 6pm from callers who said they heard a loud bang from a residential unit on Pak Tai Street.

A window with a twisted aluminium frame was seen on the ground next to some shattered glass.

Witnesses told RTHK that the loud bang sounded like thunder, and people were screaming.

"It was quite scary to me. I need to have a few drinks to calm myself down," a woman said.

Another man said the injured man fell onto the middle of the road, and he saw passers-by dragging him to safety.
