The Labour Department on Thursday said it has suspended the use of elevating work platforms by contractors at a construction site in Kai Tak, following the death of a worker there.
On Wednesday afternoon, the 66-year-old man was trapped between a door-frame and a work platform's guardrail at the construction site on Sheng Fung Lane.
He later died in hospital.
A department spokesman said the contractors in question are banned from resuming related work until the department is satisfied adequate measures have been taken to mitigate the risks.
The spokesman said the cause of the accident is being investigated, adding that enforcement actions will be taken if any safety violations are found.
