The Immigration Department says it has contacted the Chinese consulate in the Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, after the family of a female Hong Kong resident, who is travelling in the country, said they had lost contact with her for several days.
Iran has recently had an internet blackout due to unrest.
The Immigration Department also said it would continue to maintain close contact with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, the Consulate General, and the woman's family. It said it would actively follow up on the matter and provide feasible assistance according to the family's wishes.
