Police said they were investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sheung Shui on Sunday in which a 55-year-old woman died.

The accident happened at 8.37am when a light goods vehicle driven by a 53-year-old man was travelling along Ma Sik Road towards Fanling and reportedly knocked down the woman who was riding a bicycle.

According to the police, the woman suffered serious head injuries and was taken to North District Hospital in an unconscious state. She was certified dead at 9.17am.

The truck driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

The police urged any witnesses to the accident to come forward.
