The Hang Seng Index opened lower on Wednesday.

The index fell 90 points, or about one-third of a percent, to open at 26,397.

Mainland stocks also opened lower, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.25 percent at 4,103 and the Shenzhen Component Index 0.38 percent lower at 14,102. (Additional reporting by Xinhua)
