Authorities said one woman was killed and two others were injured after two vehicles collided in Pat Heung, Yuen Long, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to the police, the incident happened at around midnight when a taxi driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle while making a right-hand turn as it approached the junction of Ying Ho Road and collided with a private car.
A 65-year-old female passenger and the 60-year-old taxi driver were trapped inside the cab and had to be rescued by firefighters.
The woman, with multiple injuries, was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital in an unconscious state, where she was pronounced dead.
The taxi driver suffered a head injury while the 25-year-old driver of the private vehicle hurt his left hand.
They were both taken to hospital for treatment, while a 20-year-old female passenger in the private car was unharmed.
Separately, the car driver and passenger were arrested for possession of offensive weapons.
Police said investigations were under way and called on witnesses to come forward.
