Financial Secretary Paul Chan said many global leaders who attended the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos last week were positive about the economic development in Hong Kong and the mainland.

In his weekly blog published on Sunday, Chan said the continuous flow of international funds into the SAR and the positive trend in financial markets have attracted global attention.

He said Hong Kong will embrace new opportunities as a super-connector as countries readjust their strategies to develop more diverse and resilient partnerships.

"Many political and business leaders I met at the meeting said that we must work together to uphold multilateralism and resolve problems through dialogue and cooperation, as the world faces a host of complex development and governance challenges," the finance chief wrote.

Beyond geopolitics, Chan noted that many of the talks also centred around the need for technological transformation.

He said the adoption of technology is key to countries maintaining economic momentum and competitiveness, adding that one of the main areas of discussion was the potential and challenges that come with the use of artificial intelligence.
