Police said they are investigating a case of criminal damage after a seatbelt was reportedly cut on a Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) on Wednesday.
Officers received a report at around 5pm concerning the damaged seatbelt on a KMB bus operating route 86K.
According to KMB, upon arriving at the Kam Ying Court Bus Terminus in Ma On Shan from Sha Tin, two passengers informed the driver that one of the seatbelts on the upper deck appeared to have been cut.
The driver reported the incident to the company, which subsequently contacted the police.
KMB strongly condemned the act, stating it will not tolerate any deliberate destruction of bus facilities.
The incident occurred just days after the implementation of a new regulation mandating seatbelt use on buses and minibuses.
