China on Thursday executed 11 gang members operating in northern Myanmar, including key figures in telecom fraud rings, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The 11 were sentenced to death in September 2025 by a court in Wenzhou in Zhejiang province for crimes including intentional homicide, illegal detention and operating gambling establishments. Their appeals were rejected two months later.
They included members of the Ming family who were found to have led the scam and gambling operations.
According to the Supreme People's Court which reviewed the case, the money involved in fraud and gambling exceeded 10 billion yuan. Members of the group were also blamed for the deaths of 14 Chinese nationals. (Agencies)
