China on Monday executed four leading members of Myanmar-based scam syndicates.
They were members of the Bai family criminal group based in northern Myanmar, the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court said in a statement.
The four had been sentenced to death in November 2025 for crimes including intentional homicide, telecom fraud and drug trafficking. Their appeals were later dismissed.
A fifth person sentenced to death, Bai Suocheng, "died of illness" following the November verdict, the court said. He was alleged to have been the group's ringleader.
According to the Supreme People's Court which reviewed the case, the funds involved in the gang's fraud and gambling activities exceeded 29 billion yuan, and their criminal acts resulted in the deaths of six Chinese citizens and caused injuries to several others.
Last week, a court in Wenzhou announced the execution of 11 people linked to telecom scam operations with the Ming family criminal group. (Xinhua & agencies)
