The annual Operation Santa Claus (OSC) fundraising campaign concluded on Tuesday, having raised more than HK$19.2 million during its two-month run.
Co-organised by RTHK and the South China Morning Post, this year’s drive, under the theme “Building Bridges", provided support to 13 local beneficiary charities and victims of the Tai Po fire.
Of the total raised, HK$5.3 million was donated through an emergency appeal launched after November’s Wang Fuk Court blaze.
These funds will be directed to four charitable projects aiding those affected, including Tai Po Baptist Church Social Service and MindHK.
The remaining HK$13.9 million will assist the 13 designated organisations in delivering services to children and youth, the elderly, the wider community and the disabled as well as those undergoing mental health recovery.
Angel Cheng, RTHK’s Radio Controller, expressed gratitude for the generosity shown.
"Operation Santa Claus 2025 received generous support and donations from all sectors of society, with the community coming together in action to build bridges, providing tangible assistance to underprivileged groups, improving their quality of life and delivering care and warmth," she said.
Tammy Tam, SCMP's Publisher, noted that the fundraising event has been a pillar of hope since 1988, successfully raising about HK$396 million.
"Each year, this city-wide campaign strives to build a more inclusive and compassionate future for Hong Kong," Tam said.
The campaign also recognised outstanding fundraising efforts with six awards, presented to top corporate fundraiser Morgan Stanley and top school fundraiser DSC International School, among others.
