A 50-year-old driver has died following a collision in Cheung Sha Wan on Thursday night.

Police received a report at around 9:30pm about the traffic accident on Ching Cheung Road near Tai Po Road.

The man was reportedly exiting a slip road and merging onto traffic towards Tsuen Wan, when his vehicle collided with a seven seater.

He was trapped in the wreckage after the vehicle came to a stop by the side of the road, and had to be freed by firefighters.

The man did not sustain superficial injuries, but was already in an unconscious state when he was rushed to Caritas Medical Centre where he was certified dead at 10:14pm.

Officers from the Kowloon West Traffic Special Investigation Team are probing the case, and called on witnesses to come forward.
