The SAR’s women’s football team returned to Hong Kong on Friday after pulling out of a tournament in Dubai amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
The squad was initially stranded in Dubai, but they flew to Bangkok on Wednesday.
Captain Ma Chak‑shun thanked the Football Association of Hong Kong, China and the Immigration Department for their help, saying she’s glad all players and staff are home safe.
"It's an unforgettable experience. In Hong Kong, we've never experienced any real threat to our lives. Now we're back, we will cherish each other more. To safely return to HK, we feel fortunate and happy," she said.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Football Association of Hong Kong, China, confirmed the team's decision to pull out of the Pink Ladies Cup 2026, saying their safety is the top priority.
The squad had originally been scheduled to return to Hong Kong on March 8.
