Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Algernon Yau, on Friday said Hong Kong is prepared to help more mainland enterprises go global, as authorities launched a one-stop platform to better match professional services with businesses.

The "GoGlobal" thematic website, launched by InvestHK, also includes the first phase of a cross-sector professional services platform rolled out by the Trade Development Council.

The platform brings together service providers in eight major sectors, including finance, legal, accounting, branding and marketing, logistics, communication tech, infrastructure and real estate, as well as and testing and certification.

"We have specially established a cross-sector professional service platform, enabling mainland enterprises planning to expand their overseas business to systematically connect with professional service teams from various sectors in Hong Kong," Yau told participants at a seminar in Beijing.

"It'll [also] provide mainland enterprises with confidence and high-value-added services for their overseas expansion."

Meanwhile, Alpha Lau, director-general of InvestHK, noted that Hong Kong offers a reliable and strategic platform for mainland companies to expand overseas amid heightened geopolitical tension.

"Whenever there're crises, there're also opportunities, no matter its overseas enterprises seeking for expansion, or mainland businesses going global, they are looking for growth, and the highest economic growth is in Asia," she said.

The seminar also saw InvestHK sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Council for International Investment Promotion to jointly promote and assist mainland businesses with their expansion plans.
