Manufacturers have issued recalls for two types of power adapters that failed safety tests, the Consumer Council announced on Thursday.

The announcement came after the watchdog, together with government officials, tested 10 adapters available in the market and found two batches made by the brands JHE and Super to have issues.

"In some areas, the insulation clearance is insufficient. After prolonged use, internal components may shift, posing a potential risk of electric shock," the council said in a report.

The model numbers concerned are JHE-SU082PD and N13USB3A for Super, with the suppliers being, respectively, Japan Home Centre (HK) and Golden Edge Group.

The watchdog quoted JHE as admitting that some workers had failed to secure the power cable properly, while Super said the model's insulation measures weren't good enough.

Both firms said they had already improved quality control to ensure consumer safety.
