Ten more people have been charged in connection with Hong Kong's largest alleged financial fraud in recent years involving cryptocurrency trading platform JPEX, police said on Thursday.
Chief inspector Hon Shing-ho said officers discovered suspicious accounts while probing the platform and over-the-counter operations.
"The force observed abnormal transactions that were greatly inconsistent with the financial situation of the account holders, amounting to HK$132 million," he said, adding that police decided to press charges against the suspects following further investigations.
The 10 individuals will appear in court on Friday on money laundering-related charges, Hon added.
A total of 26 people, including online influencer Joseph Lam, are facing charges relating to the case, in which thousands of people were allegedly conned out of HK$1.6 billion.
