Police on Monday found a 79-year-old man who had been missing since Saturday after he went for a hike with his wife in Tuen Mun.

The man, He Chengan, was found in a conscious state, officers said.

"The man was located on a slope near a temple on MacLehose Trail – Section No. 10 in Tuen Mun Tai Lam Country Park this afternoon," the police said in a statement.

"He sustained abrasions to his head and legs, and was airlifted to Tuen Mun Hospital in conscious state. No suspicious circumstances were detected."

The man and his wife were separated on MacLehose Trail in Tai Lam Country Park during a rainstorm on Saturday.

His son reported him missing to the police in the evening on the same day, sparking a search that had been going on since then.
