Customs officers on Thursday said they seized counterfeit goods worth an estimated HK$64 million in an almost three-week operation last month.

Most of the haul was being shipped via Hong Kong to other places.

Inspector Wesley Yeung said the suspected fakes included around 10,000 football jerseys for teams in the upcoming World Cup.

"This mega event about football would attract more people to buy the jerseys, so that the syndicate would take this chance to sell the counterfeit jerseys," he said.

Other items included watches, mobile phones and electronic products.

Meanwhile, two men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of breaching the Trade Descriptions Ordinance.

Two were believed to be connected to an online shopping group which sold counterfeit wallets, handbags, footwear and clothing worth around HK$280,000.

The third suspect, the director of a logistics company, was arrested on suspicion of selling counterfeit perfume and cosmetics with an estimated value of HK$410,000.
