Macao's secretary for economy and finance, Tai Kin-ip, has resigned for personal reasons.
According to the Macao government, the resignation was submitted some time ago.
Macao’s chief executive, Sam Hou-fai, then proposed to the central government that Tai be relieved of his duties in line with the relevant legislation.
Acting on the chief executive’s advice, the State Council on Thursday formally removed Tai from the post.
Sam thanked Tai for his work, praising his effective leadership of his team, his adherence to the law, and the progress he made in economic and financial matters.
The Macao government said it is now working on nominating a new secretary for economy and finance, and the nomination will be submitted to the central government in due course.
