Egypt is working closely with Pakistan on a framework aimed at securing a lasting peace between the United States and Iran, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said on Saturday.
He said Egypt, Turkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were co-ordinating a broader regional effort focused on preventing renewed escalation and laying the groundwork for a post-war security arrangement, stressing the importance of protecting Gulf states and stabilising energy markets, supply chains and food security.
"We hope to do so [reach a final agreement] in the coming days," Badr Abdelatty said after attending the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkiye, noting that "not only us in the region but the whole world is suffering from the continuation of this war".
"We are pushing very hard in order to move forward," he said. (Reuters & AFP)
