President Xi Jinping on Monday said normal passage through the Strait of Hormuz should be maintained, and that China advocates a comprehensive ceasefire in the Middle East conflict.
Xi made the remarks during a phone call with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, according to Xinhua News Agency.
"Normal navigation through the Strait of Hormuz should be maintained, this is in the shared interests of regional countries and the international community," Xi said.
He stressed that China advocates an immediate, comprehensive ceasefire, and insists on resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means.
The president also said that the nation is willing to deepen strategic mutual trust with Saudi Arabia and strengthen practical cooperation. (Xinhua/AFP)
