HK stocks open 0.6pc higher

Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Wednesday, with the Hang Seng Index up 162 points, or 0.63 percent, at 25,842.

By contrast, mainland stocks opened lower.

The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.41 percent at 4,061 while the Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.53 percent lower at 14,751.

Markets got off to an uneven start in Asian trading as worries about the Iran conflict and health of the AI sector dominated, ahead of the release of earnings from tech megacap stocks later in the session.

The US Federal Reserve will conclude a two-day meeting later in the day, with investors keeping tabs on its outlook for inflation and interest rates as energy costs soar. (Agencies)
