Uber says it is acquiring the Hong Kong e-hail taxi start-up FlyTaxi.
Launched 13 years ago, locally-built FlyTaxi was one of the first meter taxi platforms in Hong Kong.
In a statement, Uber said FlyTaxi would continue to operate as normal and there would be no change for drivers and riders using the FlyTaxi or Uber apps.
It said the move was part of its commitment to growing the taxi industry and providing greater economic opportunities to drivers.
FlyTaxi's founder Simon Siu said joining forces with Uber was a proud milestone.
