A female passenger died in the early hours of Monday, after the private car she was travelling in crashed on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Police said at about 4.41am, the vehicle was approaching Hong Kong when it was suspected to have lost control and flipped on its side after ramming into a number of traffic cones and a kiosk.
Both the male driver, 67, and the passenger, 62, were trapped inside the car and had to be rescued by first responders.
The woman sustained multiple injuries and was unconscious when taken to hospital, where she was certified dead.
The driver meanwhile, hurt his limbs and was conscious when taken to hospital.
The police's New Territories South special traffic investigation team is probing the case.
