A Malaysia Airlines passenger flight bound for Kuala Lumpur suffered a tyre burst during takeoff at Hong Kong International Airport on Monday.
No injuries were reported.
The Airport Authority said in a statement that the takeoff for flight MH079 on the airport’s south runway was aborted at 9.18am due to a technical issue, which was followed by a tyre burst during deceleration.
The plane left the runway and waited for assistance on the taxiway as emergency personnel arrived at the scene.
The authority said it arranged for an aircraft tug to tow the plane back to the parking area.
It's not known how many passengers and crew were on board.
The south runway was temporarily closed for inspection, and other flights were diverted to the central runway for takeoffs.
The authority said flight operations remained mostly normal.
The south runway was reopened following the completion of inspection shortly after 10am.
