HK Express and Hong Kong Airlines have announced reductions to their fuel surcharges in response to easing costs, days after Cathay Pacific said it would be cutting its fees.

HK Express said the surcharge for flights from Hong Kong to destinations other than those on the mainland would fall by HK$50, to HK$339, for bookings made from May 16.

The fees for many flights to Hong Kong will also be reduced, although there are no changes to the surcharges for flights from the mainland, Japan and South Korea.

Meanwhile Hong Kong Airlines has announced cuts to its surcharges from May 18.

There will be a HK$50 reduction to HK$339 for short-haul flights to places including Japan and South Korea, with a bigger reduction for the airline's long-haul flights.

The adjustments come as oil prices eased on Wednesday, snapping a three-day rally as investors awaited developments on the fragile Middle East ceasefire.

Last week, Cathay Pacific announced it would cut its fuel surcharges by up to 12.9 percent from May 16, following a series of increases that began in March.
