One person has died after a fire broke out at a housing estate in Tung Chung early on Friday.

The blaze started at around 4am at a unit in Hei Tung House, Yu Tung Court.

Firefighters deployed one hose line and one breathing apparatus team to put out the fire in about 40 minutes.

Around 300 residents were evacuated to safety.

A woman's body was found in one of the rooms in the unit.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze.
