Police said on Saturday an officer allegedly discharged his revolver accidentally once while reloading it.

The incident occurred at around 7.10am, when the Police Tactical Unit officer was reloading the revolver at an area designated for just that purpose at the force's Kowloon East headquarters in Kai Tak.

No one was injured in the firing.

The force said the matter is being investigated and that strict regulations are observed regarding the use of equipment.
