A female police officer has made history by becoming the first Hongkonger selected for a national spaceflight mission, CCTV reported on Friday.
According to the broadcaster’s military channel, the officer will be joining the upcoming Shenzhou 23 mission.
She was chosen from the fourth batch of preparatory astronauts, who were selected following a nationwide recruitment drive in 2024.
Ten preparatory astronauts were selected in the 2024 intake, including eight pilots and two payload specialists – one each from Hong Kong and Macao.
