Bus driver arrested after cyclist killed in Kwai Chung

Police arrested a bus driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death after a cyclist was killed in an accident in Kwai Chung on Monday afternoon.

The driver, 60, is being detained.

Police received a report at about 2.50pm that a bus hit a man riding a bicycle while travelling along Tung Chi Street, turning right towards Shek Yam Road.

The cyclist, 60, was said to be trapped under the bus before being extracted and rushed to hospital with multiple injuries.

He was taken to Yan Chai Hospital in an unconscious state and later transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital. He was certified dead at 6:08pm.

An investigation is underway and the police are calling for witnesses to come forward.
