Seven people were killed and 17 others injured in an explosion in Guangxi.

The blast occurred in the town of Xingan at around 1.40am on Thursday.

The cause of the explosion is not immediately known but authorities have ruled out it involving gas pipelines.

Rescue operations were under way.

None of those hurt suffered life-threatening injuries. (Xinhua/Agencies)
