Police said a 54-year-old man was killed in Yuen Long on Sunday morning after his electric mobility device reportedly lost control and tumbled off a goods unloading platform.
The force said they received a report at 9.21am that the man had been found lying unconscious on Tong Yan San Tsuen Road. Officers who arrived at the scene said the man had severe head and hand injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial investigations revealed that the man had been riding the electric device eastbound along Tong Yan San Tsuen Road at around 4am.
Police suspect the device had lost control as he approached a 1.25-metre-high loading bay, causing the man to topple off the platform and fall onto the ground.
The Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is investigating the case.
