A man died after being hit by a construction vehicle during renovations work in Kowloon Bay Sports Ground on Friday.

Police received a report about the incident shortly before 9am, saying the man was unconscious after suffering a head injury.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case has been classified as an industrial accident.

In a statement, the Labour Department said staff have been deployed to the scene upon a report being lodged about the fatal workplace accident and that an investigation is under way.

According to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the sports ground is closed from January 2 till September 29 for renovation works.
