A pedestrian has been killed and 19 people were injured after a minibus mounted the pavement near the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on Sunday.

The accident happened shortly before 6pm.

A 43-year-old pedestrian was reportedly hit by the minibus and suffered serious head and body injuries.

He was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in an unconscious state and was later declared dead.

The driver of the "red" minibus, 16 passengers and two other passers-by were injured.

The minibus driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.

One of those injured described chaotic scenes after the crash, with some people receiving first aid outside the court and others taken to hospital by ambulance.
