The director of broadcasting, Angelina Kwan, on Friday led a group of more than 100 students on a seven-day exchange and study tour in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, as part of the annual flagship programme, Solar Project, organised by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK).
The group departed from Kowloon Tong on Friday morning and travelled to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport to board a flight to Xinjiang.
The programme aims to introduce participants, who are Secondary 3 to Secondary 6 students, to Xinjiang's history, culture, ecological industries and ethnic customs.
They are scheduled to visit the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Reclamation Museum, Shihezi University and the Lin Zexu Memorial Hall, among other sites.
Earlier, participants of the programme travelled to Qianhai in Shenzhen for exchange activities to learn about national development and the achievements of cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
