Hong Kong and mainland stocks ended mixed in a generally flat day for regional markets.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 266 points, or 1.1 percent, to end trading for the day at 23,616 on turnover of HK$314.72 billion.
The tech index rose 42 points, or 0.9 percent, to 4,541 while the China enterprises index was up 112 points, or 1.5 percent, to 7,812.
On the mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index closed down two points, or 0.06 percent, at 4,041 on turnover of 1.43 trillion yuan.
The Shenzhen Component Index fell 180 points, or 1.16 percent, to 15,416 on turnover of 1.66 trillion yuan while the ChiNext Index ended 71 points, or 1.77 percent, lower at 3,948 on turnover of 764.01 billion yuan.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225, which is heavily weighted by tech shares, struggled for direction, closing flat with a loss of six points at 69,737 while the broader Topix climbed 37 points, or 0.5 percent, to 4,084 for a sixth straight session.
In Seoul, the Kospi closed down 37 points, or 0.46 percent, at 8,051, as chipmaker SK Hynix fell ahead of its listing of US$29 billion American depositary receipts on the Nasdaq. (Reuters/Xinhua)
