More than 60 emergency-response teams from the Drainage Services Department were deployed to help people cope with flooding incidents across the city on Tuesday.
This came as the department's emergency control centre began operations at 7.30am when the Observatory issued a special announcement on flooding in the northern New Territories – two hours after the Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal was issued.
As of 11am, 11 instances of flooding were confirmed, six of which were resolved.
Powerful drainage robots were deployed to handle the remaining flooding incidents that broke out in such places as Sheung Shui, Fanling and Ping Che.
The amber rainstorm alert was in force between 5.30am and 11.55am on Tuesday, the longest so far this month.
