More than 60 emergency-response teams from the Drainage Services Department were deployed to help people cope with flooding incidents across the city on Tuesday.
This came as the department's emergency control centre began operations at 7.30am when the Observatory issued a special announcement on flooding in the northern New Territories – two hours after the Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal was issued.
Powerful drainage robots were deployed to handle the remaining flooding incidents that broke out in such places as Sheung Shui, Fanling and Ping Che.
The amber rainstorm alert was in force between 5.30am and 11.55am on Tuesday, the longest so far this month.
As of 1.30pm, 11 instances of flooding were confirmed, the department said, and all were resolved within one to two hours with the help of the emergency-response teams and powerful drainage robots.
Roads that were impacted by flooding, including Fanling Highway, Kam Tin and Ping Che roads, also resumed normal services.
The department added that its teams carried out repeated inspections and clearance operations at about 240 locations prone to flooding due to blockage.
The special announcement on flooding in the northern New Territories was cancelled at 1.15pm.
