Premier Li Qiang on Friday chaired a State Council executive meeting to make further arrangements on flood prevention and relief work.
The meeting stressed that all regions and departments must remain constantly vigilant in flood prevention and relief, carry out thorough inspections to identify potential risks and hazards, strengthen patrols and monitoring, and ensure the safety of major rivers and lakes.
Close attention should be paid to high-risk areas, key locations and vulnerable groups, according to the meeting. In the event of danger, people at risk must be evacuated without hesitation to minimize casualties.
It added that greater coordination is needed to pool flood control efforts, while governments at all levels must strengthen emergency duty arrangements and ensure the readiness of personnel, equipment and relief supplies, making every effort to safeguard people's lives and property. (Xinhua)
