A Hongkonger has died in a car crash in New Zealand.
The accident happened on Crown Range Road near the alpine resort town of Queenstown on the South Island, Beijing's consulate-general in Christchurch said, adding that it has activated its emergency response mechanism to take follow-up action.
Responding to media inquiries, the Immigration Department said it has approached the consulate-general through the Commissioner's Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the SAR to understand the situation, and provided advice and assistance in accordance with the wishes of the victim's family.
The department added that it will continue to maintain close contact with mainland authorities and the family to actively follow up on the incident.
