Chief Executive John Lee will hold a dialogue and exchange session with lawmakers for the first time on July 28 to further strengthen understanding and communication between the two sides.
The “Chief Executive's Dialogue with Legislative Council Members” will be held at Legco’s ante chamber or banquet hall.
According to a letter from the administration wing to the Legco secretariat, the meeting is said to be aimed at "enabling the participants to have warm, in-depth and direct dialogues in a calm and cordial setting”.
Lee will share his insights on “patriots administering Hong Kong” before exchanges are held. There will be no restrictions on the topics covered.
“The exchange could be open and flexible, with the aim to enhance mutual understanding and communication, foster reform partnership between the government and Legco, attain more fully the spirit of mutual cooperation with checks and balances between the two, and further unleash the value of ‘patriots administering Hong Kong’ to a greater extent,” according to the statement.
As the event will be held during Legco's recess, the chief executive said he fully understands if some members are not available that day due to prior commitments.
