Financial Secretary Paul Chan on Sunday said Hong Kong’s AI development has moved from individual initiatives to a systematic approach, with a goal to empower all sectors with artificial intelligence.
Hong Kong has always been participating in technological innovation and application, with a government committee on AI development holding its first meeting last month, he said.
Writing in his weekly blog, Chan said members of the Committee on AI+ and Industry Development Strategy highlighted life and health technology and embodied AI during the meeting.
In a video on Chan’s weekly blog, the FS encouraged students to embrace the technology, while recommending a book on its application during this year’s book fair.
“Artificial intelligence is a major trend in the wave of technological transformation. We are promoting AI for all, encouraging the whole society to understand, learn, and use AI,” he said.
“It can greatly benefit you in your future studies, work and entrepreneurship.”
The government will also launch an improved Digital Transformation Support Pilot Programme this year to help small and medium-sized enterprises adopt AI solutions, he said.
