Man arrested for alleged dog smuggling

Customs have arrested a man for allegedly smuggling a dog into Hong Kong through the Lok Ma Chau checkpoint.

Officers intercepted the suspect, aged 27, at the arrival hall at the checkpoint on Thursday.

Upon examination, officers found a dog estimated to be worth about HK$15,000 in his shoulder bag.

The case has been handed over to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department for follow‑up.
