Police have reclassified an assault case in Tsim Sha Tsui as murder, following the death of a man on Friday.

Officers received a report on Sunday that a man had been assaulted inside a bar on Cameron Road.

They later found the 32-year-old victim unconscious with severe injuries to his head and chest.

Initial investigations suggest the man was attacked with bare hands.

Nine individuals, six men and three women aged 24 to 46, were arrested earlier on suspicion of wounding and assisting offenders.

A 33-year-old male suspect has since been charged with one count of murder, while a 37-year-old man faces one count of assisting offenders.

Both cases are scheduled to be mentioned at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts on Friday afternoon.

A 41-year-old suspect was also charged with assisting offenders.

Of the remaining suspects, four have been released on bail and are required to report back to police in late August, whereas the other two remain in custody as investigations continue.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
