Mainland and Hong Kong stock markets ended higher on Friday after the nation's latest trade figures showed exports beat expectations.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index ended the day 137 points, or 0.5 percent, higher at 25,668 on turnover of almost HK$260 billion.

The tech index rose 37 points, or 0.8 percent, to 4,858 while the China Enterprises Index was 32 points or 0.4 percent, up at 8,531.

Across the border, the Shanghai Composite Index closed up 39 points, or 1.02 percent, at 3,940 on turnover of 1.21 trillion yuan.

The Shenzhen Component Index put on 200 points, or 1.42 percent, to close at 14,311 on turnover of 1.45 trillion yuan while the ChiNext Index rose 47 points, or 1.35 percent, to 3,563 on turnover of 730 billion yuan.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei share average ended 76 points, or 0.12 percent, lower at 65,606 as declines in AI and chip-related stocks again outweighed broader gains. The broader Topix rose 19 points, or 0.47 percent, to 4,074.

For the week, the Nikkei rose 1.9 percent and the Topix gained 1.8 percent.

In Seoul, the Kospi ended 37 points, or 0.6 percent, lower at 6,258 for a seventh straight weekly loss after jumping up almost two percent within the first few minutes of trading before reversing course to decline up to 2.2 percent, reflecting fragile sentiment towards AI-linked stocks.
