The city’s largest community living room was opened to the public in Tsuen Wan on Monday and is expected to benefit hundreds of subdivided flat households.

Officiating at the ceremony, Chief Secretary Eric Chan noted that Tsuen Wan has the highest number of subdivided units in the New Territories.

He said the Castle Peak Road facility, spanning 7,000 square feet, is the sixth facility rolled out this year and brings the total number of community living rooms to 15 so far.

Three more are expected to open their doors by the end of the year, Chan said.

"A community living room this big is expected to benefit 610 subdivided unit households, with the number of visits for the year reaching 92,000," he said.

"Along with the Tsuen Wan West community living room that began operations in June this year, the two can serve about 1,100 subdivided unit households in the district altogether."

Apart from facilities such as a cooking and dining area, study room and laundry area, the latest community living room also features a music room and a nap corner for infants and toddlers.
