The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management on Monday allocated 180 million yuan from the central natural disaster relief fund to support disaster-hit areas across the country.

The move comes as eastern China deals with torrential rain and severe flooding caused by Typhoon Dolphin, while parts of the northwest continue to grapple with prolonged drought.

Of the total, 120 million yuan was earmarked for five provinces – Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian and Jiangxi – to support emergency response and rescue efforts following flooding and typhoon damage.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Water Resources activated a Level-IV emergency flood response for Hubei, Henan, Hebei and Shandong, which forecasters said will see downpours until Sunday.

Authorities maintained a Level-III emergency response in Zhejiang, as well as a Level-IV response for six other provincial-level regions across eastern, central and northeastern China.

The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management also allocated 60 million yuan to Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps to address ongoing drought conditions. (Reporting by Xinhua)
