Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Chan Tsz-tat, inspected the new port facility at Huanggang on Wednesday to review the latest preparations, ahead of a drill to be held on Thursday.
Customs said on its social media platform that the new Huanggang port is the first to adopt a joint one-stop vehicle lane system.
The department said Chan made a special point of inspecting the various floors for vehicle entry and exit, and observing customs officers conducting operational tests on the lanes.
Customs said it will continue to do its utmost to complete all preparatory work, ensuring the port's facilities operate safely and smoothly.
Separately, the Transport Department said that in preparation for the port's opening, it had conducted a series of transport and traffic tests, with all systems operating generally smoothly.
The team and various public transport service operators are ready to provide a new, efficient, convenient and people-oriented travel experience, it added.
